Given:

  • Force = 60 N

  • Area = 0.06 m²

To be Calculated:

Calculate the pressure on the pin.

Formula used:

 \sf{Pressure = \frac{Force}{Area}  }

Solution:

Pressure =  \frac{Force}{Area}

 =  \frac{60}{0.06}

 =  \frac{ \cancel60 \times 100}{ \cancel6}

 = 10 \times 100

 = 1000 \: Nm {}^{ - 2}

Extra information:

  • Pressure is the force acting perpendicularly on a unit area of the object.

  • S.I unit = N/m² or Pascal (Pa)

Pressure depends on two factors:

  1. Force Applied
  2. Area over which force act .
