A stone 'X of mass 2 kg is at the height of 2 m from the ground level. Another similar stone 'Y' of mass 4 kg is at the height of 4 m from the ground level. What is the difference between their potential energy?

Solution with Steps please! :)

Answer:

80J

Explanation:

Given:

Mass of stone1= 2kg

Height of stone1= 4m

Mass of stone2= 4kg

Height of stone2= 4m

Potential Energy= m*g*h (m= mass, g= acceleration due to gravity, h= height of the object)

P.E.1= 2*10*4= 80J [Potential Energy of 1st

stone]

P.E.2= 4*10*4=160J [Potential Energy of 2nd

stone]

Therefore difference between their P.E. = 160J-80J= 80J
