A stool has a round non-slip pad fitted to the bottom of each leg.
The stool has four legs. The area of each pad is 3 cm2
. The weight of the stool is 75 N.
A student sits on the stool. The weight of the student is 525 N.

Answer:

  • area = 3cm²
  • convert 3 cm²to m² which is equal to 3 × 10-⁴m²

As we know that the weight of

the body = the thrust applied

by the body.

  • now the weight of the stool is equal to the thrust applied.
  • therefore thrust due to stool is 75N

  • using the same principle even the thrust applied by the student is 525 N .

Add the thrust of the student and the chair

525 + 75 = 600 N is the total thrust being applied.

Now use the formula P = F / A to calculate the pressure exerted.

P = 600/3×10-

P =200 × 10 Pa or N/m²

Here is your answer.
