Given : External diameter of the cylinder = 1.4 m

length  of the cylinder, h = 8 m

Radius  of the cylinder and hemisphere r , r = 1.4/2 = 0.7 m

Total curved surface area of a storage tank  = Curved surface area of a cylinder + Curved surface area of hemisphere

= 2πrh + 2πr²

= 2πr(h + r)

= 2 × 22/7 × 0.7 (8 + 0.7)

= 44 × 0.1(8.7)

= 4.4 × 8.7

= 38.28 m²

Cost of painting it on the outside at the rate of ₹ 10 per m² = 38.28 × 10

= ₹ 382.80

Hence, the cost of painting it on the outside is ₹ 382.80.
