A store has a banner of 25% off on MRP of all branded items. Sheetal goes into the store and buys a belt worth Rs.75.a shirt of Rs. 1.999 and a shawl of Rs. 2.900 How much amount will she have to pay? a) 1234.50 b) 3730.50 c) 1245.65 d) 1245.89
The discount given is 25 percent.
there are two ways to solve the question

Method 1 ( Long Method)
.
Belt - 75 rs
25% discount on 75 is ( 75 x 25/100) = 18.75
as this is a discount, we have to subtract it from the MRP
hence 75–18.75 = 56.25
Repeating the same step for Shirt
25% discount on 1999 is (1999 x 25/100) = 499.75
1999–499.75 = 1499.25
Shawl - 2900
2900 x 25/100 = 725
2900 - 725 = 2175
adding all the values 56.25+1499.25+2175 = 3730.5
The amount required to pay is 3730.5

Method 2 (Short method)

Total items bought are Belt + Shirt + Shawl
Total MRP of all the three items are => 75+1999+2900 = 4974
discount given is 25%
4974 x 25/100 = 1243.5
Hence the amount required to pay is 4974-1243.5 = 3730.5

The amount that she needs to pay = Rs. 3730.50

Given:

A store has a banner of 25% off on MRP of all branded items

The items that Sheetal bought

A belt worth of Rs.75

A shirt worth of Rs.1999

A shawl worth of Rs.2900

To find:

How much she needs to pay

Solution:.

Here is another method to solve the above problem

Given discount on each item 25% of MRP

⇒ Cost of belt after getting 25% discount = 75 - 25% of 75

= 75 - \frac{25}{100} (75) = 75 - 18.75 = 56.25

⇒ Cost of shirt after getting 25% discount = 1999 - 25% of 1999

= 1999 - \frac{25}{100} (1999) = 1999 - 499.75 = 1499.25

⇒ Cost of shawl after getting 25% discount = 2900 - 25% of 2999

= 2999 - \frac{25}{100} (2999) = 2900 - 725 = 2175

The amount that she needs to pay = 56.25 +1499.25 + 2175 = 3730.50

The amount that she needs to pay = Rs. 3730.50
