A storm broke a tree and the treetop rested 20 m from the base of the tree, making an angle of 60° with the horizontal. Find the height of the tree.

Steps:
1) Let the height of the slant part of tree be x.
Then, By Trigonometry.

 \sin(60 \degree) = \frac{20}{x} \\ = > \frac{ \sqrt{3} }{2} = \frac{20}{x} \\ = > x = \frac{40}{ \sqrt{3} } m

Therefore, Total initial height of tree is
(20 + \frac{40}{ \sqrt{3} } )m
