Answer:

it is about a runner

Explanation:

n 2008 my husband and I visited Egypt. We were on our own for the whole trip but when we were in Cairo, we hired a local guide to show us around for a few days, this included a day trip to Abul Simbel.

On the day, our guide, the driver and us left before dawn, we drove for a while then stopped. Our guide said we were waiting for the convoy, he said there would be military vehicles going with tourists, as a protection. I didn’t know at the time this was a common thing, I didn’t do much research online so I was skeptical. We waited in a little alley outside of city center, we didn’t know where we were, our guide didn’t seem to want to say too much, he and the driver smoked on the side. We waited for at least 45 minutes, with the growing fear and question in me and my husband(from his look I could tell) since we didn’t really know what would happen, would there really be a convoy? Or was there something darker and more sinister?

My husband and I didn’t want to say it out loud what we were thinking, but we were becoming worried as time ticked by. Finally after more than an hour, we saw a long line of vehicles appeared from distance on the main street, our guide and driver jumped in the car and sped away to catch the convoy. So I guessed our guide took a short cut to a waiting spot? I felt a little bit embarrassed but also relieved. I thought our guide could’ve explained to us and we would’ve be totally fine with it. Perhaps he wanted to add a little suspense to our trip.

On the way back, we also joined a long line of cars, and we actually had a military officer with machine gun got on our car, he checked our passports and then said sometime like “oh Americans, we like Americans.” I was nervous and uncertain what or if he wanted anything from us. He didn’t, he rode for a while and got off.

This was by no means a bad experience but a little bit unusual in my years of traveling Now I sometimes tell friends about it as if it was an adventure. Sure felt that way at the time!
