Answer:

"If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

It is not for nothing they say dogs are a man’s best friend.

We have so much to learn from them.

From the second you come home, they make sure your arrival doesn’t go unnoticed. They welcome you with unconditional love and comfort. They sure do make their owners feel special.

Animals are so connected to us. In ways individuals can’t.

I have yet to compare them to human beings!

I started to go to a farm near where I live to go walk in the nature trails and to see the farm animals. They even had the animal’s names written in front of their enclosures, and I would call them by their names, and I swear, they would actually look up at me! And some of them would even get close to me. I haven’t have a blast like that in a long time! I was petting cows, horses, donkeys and goats! My heart had never been so full. Going there has truly helped to soothe my depression and anxiety in a magical way.

I have to say that horses are my absolute favorite animals.

They in fact are recognized for their therapeutic value! (amazing fact I discovered shortly after).

Horses have been shown to be emotional mirrors for humans.

They have strong emotional skills, which makes them respond to us, the same way we approach them, depending on the emotion we choose to show to them.

I’ve never been treated so kindly by anything so big and so majestic.

No wonder they are used by people who suffer from a wide range of psychological issues and traumas.

Equine therapy has shown incredible benefits to those who have used it.

Recently I was reading a book written By Leo Buscaglia.

(In case you don’t know him, his second name is Dr. Love, and he’s the most inspiring human ever.)

He was a teacher at the University of Southern California in the nineties, and he created a non-credit class (but so worth it!) named Love1A, and it was a course that has empowered and changed many of his students lives. The suicide of one of his favorites students (who seemed so happy in class and was always listening and replying to the questions he would ask )moved him deeply and is the reason as to why he started a course on Love.

One time during one of the courses, a dog entered the class.

As he was walking through the aisles of the classroom and wagging his tail, he came to see each student, and they were all so happy to take the time to pet him… Until one student raised her voice and expressed her anger out loud that it wasn’t fair that this dog was getting unconditional attention and love, while she-herself had been craving it since the beginning of the semester, but no one seemed to have done anything to fulfill her need for closeness. Another student replied to her that she appeared as cold and self-centered, and that maybe if she would have acted differently since the beginning of the semester, she would have gotten a bit more of affection.

She right away went down on her knees and started imitating a dog and going through the aisles of the classroom, and she indeed got all the love and attention that was possible to be given!

I’m writing this short story that I read in Leo's book, because it demonstrates extremely well the amazing impact that animals have on humans, and how much they make our lives whole!

While to them, we are their whole life!
