Oh my, what a show we got here on the east coast on Monday morning!
Sunday night, I was overtired. I could easily have just collapsed and slept in the middle of a carpark.
I got home and went straight to bed at 8.15pm. However, my sleep all that night was broken.
I woke up every hour and for some unknown reason I failed to get back to sleep at 4.45 am.
Instead of drugging myself, i opted to go for a drive to the beach and go for a walk. I finished my walk at about 5:40am or so and then I stopped. I was opening my car door when I noticed the faintest reflection of a predawn glow.
I realised that there was a slight glow in the horizon an hour out from sunrise. I thought I better stay in case something happens and luckily I always keep swimmers and the camera in the car.
I got changed into my swimmers, as I knew for my intended shot I was gonna get wet.
Within minutes, there went from the occasional passing jogger to multiple photographers fighting for compositions.
However I kept to myself and set up. With the tide coming in, I constantly had to fight to keep my tripod level and stable and every second wave polluted my front element with water drops.
For the next hour and a bit, I was fighting the elements in an attempt to nail my dream shot. This was the first time in almost three years that I got ideal conditions at my local beach.
It's been a painful wait as I would've had a couple of hundred failed attempts here but it really does all pay off in the end.
