Akshaymas: The Roman Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is perhaps the most famous ancient landmark in the world. The Colosseum was the host to thousands of gladiatorial shows, mock naval battles, executions, and animal hunts. Today, the Colosseum still stands in the center of Rome, Italy, however, not quite as it used to be. Still, today, the Roman Colosseum is a large tourist attraction, thousands of tourists from all over the world still come to view this marveled arena.
Akshaymas: The Roman Colosseum has a rich history, and remains a prized possession of the Roman citizens. 
Construction of the Colosseum was initiated by Roman emperor Vespasian, around 70 AD. Vespasian named the Colosseum after the colossus of Nero, a large statue that stood nearby. Vespasian, however, did not live to see the completion of the Colosseum, as he died in AD 79, only a year before the construction of Colosseum had been finished.
Akshaymas: Titus, Vespasian’s son and successor, completed the construction in 80 AD, in dedication for his father. Further modifications were made during the reign of Domitian, the brother of Titus. 
Construction was very expensive. Just the external wall of the Colosseum would cost about $50 million dollars, today. About the size of a professional football stadium, the Colosseum could hold over 50,000 spectators.
Akshaymas: Upon entering, the audience climbed sloping ramps to their seats. These seats were separated according to gender and social class. The women and the poor sat at the top of the Colosseum, on wooden benches.

Akshaymas: were outlawed by Emperor Constantine I in AD 325. Combats, however, continued long after that. The last recorded gladiatorial battle was recorded in 404 AD. Even after this, the Colosseum was put to further use. Parts of the Colosseum were torn down and donated, in the production of other buildings (mostly churches) in Rome. 
Today, the Colosseum still stands, but in ruins. It now serves as a tourist attraction.

Rome was not built in a day. Rome was among the greatest city of the ancient world. But, all on a sudden, the city of Rome did not assume such big shape.

The glory of Rome was raised to such height because several generations of people labored effortlessly for centuries build the empire. Similarly, the massive successes of great people were not attained overnight. All great achievements are the award of years of hard work. 

Robert the Bruce learned from a spider that you could win big battles through persistent efforts. One needs to put one brick above another several times to raise a tall building.

This saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" means important works and achievements take time. To create great things time is needed.

The city of Rome was the capital of the great Roman Empire. Rome is renowned for its architectural beauty. It has many beautiful buildings, parks, gardens and fountains. But all those things were not built overnight.

not fail. Our Rome will be built sooner or later.

Take a look at the history of the Taj Mahal. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. UNESCO has designated the Taj Mahal as a World Heritage Site and it is also one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Over 200,000 tourists from overseas and as many as 2 to 4 million people visit the Taj Mahal every year.

Different types of marble from all over the world were used to build this mausoleum. The Taj Mahal took approximately 20 years and approximately 20,000 workers to complete. Taj Mahal is recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world.

Time and hard labour are necessary to bring about anything of real significance. By determination and by patient toiling each day can such a thing be done.

"Rome wasn't built in a day" can teach us about building better habits. It takes time to get ride of an old bad habit. But if we are sincere in building for ourselves good habits and moral character, we will

admirable results and big achievements comes late with time. To achieve great and marvelous thing requires more time. It is necessary to be patient.

The fulfilment of our aims in life or landing our dream jobs and careers do not happen overnight. Hard work, dedication, determination, perseverance and lots of patience will finally lead us to our crown of achievement.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but they were busy laying bricks every minute. To be patient does not mean laziness. We must keep working hard with perseverance to accomplish our desired purposes, our dreams.
