A straight line cuts the x- axis at P and the y-axis at R. The gradient of the line RP is -3/2 and the line passes through the point (2,3) find: (a) the equation of the line RP (b) the intercept on the y-axis (c) the area of triangle ROP,where O is the origin.

Answer:

eqn of RP y-3 = (-3/2)(x-2)

2(y-3)=-3(x-2)

2y-6=-3x+6

3x+2y-12=0Ans

For intercept on Y-axis

put x=0 in the above eqn

y=6

For intercept on X-axis

put y=0 in the above eqn

you will get x=4
