Given : a straight line passes through point (1,1) the portion of the line intercepted between the x-axis and y-axis is divided at this point in the ratio 3: 4

To Find :  equation of line

Solution:

x/a + y/b = 1

1/a + 1/b = 1

Points  ( a , 0)  and ( 0 , b)

( a , 0)  and ( 0 , b) is divided  in 3 : 4 Ratio by 1: 1

=> 1  = (3*0 + 4a)/(3 + 4)   & 1 = ( 3b  + 4*0)/(3 + 4)

=> 1 = 4a/7    &  1 = 3b/7

=> a = 7/4   , b  = 7/3

x/a + y/b = 1

x/(7/4)  + y/(7/3)  = 1

=> 4x/7 + 3y/7 = 1

=> 4x + 3y  =  7

equation of line is 4x + 3y  =  7
