Given : A straight line through points p and q is drawn perpendicular to a line through points p(x,y) and r(x,(y+10))

To find : The possible coordinates of the point q are:

(a).  (17 , y ) , b = (-1 , y)  , c = (0 , y)  , d , all of the choices

Solution:

p(x , y)

r = ( x , y + 10)

line pr  is parallel to y axis as x coordinate is same

Hence line perpendicular to pr  will be parallel to x axis

p = ( x, y )

Hence  q would be  ( h , y )

h can have any value

hence   (17 , y )  (-1 , y) and (0 , y)  are all possible choices

Hence  all of the choices  is the correct answer
