Answer:

Let the steamer speed will be x.

Downstream speed = (x+1)

Distance between the points = 5(x+1)    ---------- (1)

Upstream speed = (x-1)

Distance between the points = 6(x-1)     ------------ (2)

On solving (1) and (2), we get

5(x+1) = 6(x-1)

5x+5 = 6x - 6

x = 11.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation: let the speed of streamer in still water be x km/h

speed of steamer in downstream= X + 1

Speed of steamer in upstream=x-1

km/h

difference in time=6-5

=1 hour

ATQ

5(x+1)=6(x-1)

5x+5=6x -6

5x-6x= -6-5

-x=-11

X=11 km/h

distance between two ports=11+1×5

= 60
