wat
Answers
Answer:
let x be the speed of streamer
then in downstream total speed is x+2
and upstream total speed x-2
the (x+2)×6=(x-2)×7
then 6x+12=7x-14
then 7x-6x=12+14
then x=26
the speed of streamer is 26km/hr
Question :-
- A steamer goes downstream from one port to another in 6 hours. It covers the same distance upstream in 7 hours. If the speed of the stream is 2km/hr, find the speed of the steamer in still water.
Answer
Speed of the stream = 2 km/hr.
Let speed of the steamer in still water = 'x' km/hr.
So, speed of upstream = Speed of steamer - Speed of stream
And, speed of downstream = Speed of steamer + Speed of stream
Time taken to cover distance in downstream = 6 hours.
⇛ Distance covered in downstream = 6 × (x + 2) km
Time taken to cover distance in upstream = 7 hours.
⇛ Distance covered in upstream = 7 × (x - 2) km
According to statement,
Distance covered in upstream = Distance covered in downstream

Additional Information
❥︎Stream – The moving water in a river is called stream.
❥︎Upstream – If the boat is flowing in the opposite direction to the stream, it is called upstream. In this case, the net speed of the boat is called the upstream speed.
❥︎Downstream – If the boat is flowing along the direction of the stream, it is called downstream.
