Distance between the towns = 720 m.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let speed of the streamer = x.

Total speed while going upstream = x+6

Total speed while going downstream = x-6

Therefore, (x+6) * 20 = (x-6) * 30

It implies, 20(x) + 120 = 30(x) - 180

It implies, 300 = 10(x)

It implies, x = 30.

Therefore, speed of the streamer while going upstream = 36 km/hr

But distance = speed * time

It implies, distance = 36 * 20.

It implies, distance = 720

Hence, total distance covered = 720 m.
