The potassium floats, fizzes as it makes hydrogen, the hydrogen gas is so hot it self combusts and burns with a lilac flame. The red litmus will show little blue trails until everything mixes and it turns evenly blue. If the piece of potassium is big enough it may also explode, spraying blobs of molten metal for several metres.
