A student added milk ,white of egg ,common salt and sand separately to water kept in four separate breaker .he stirred the mixtures well and filtered each of them . On filtering he obtained solid residue on the filter paper in case of Sand.

Explanation:

  • The method by which the individual constituents of the mixture are obtained is referred as Separation.
  • The mixture contain more than one components in it.
  • Separation of the molecules are done by manual method, filtration, evaporation, crystallisation, magnetism, etc.,
  • In Filtration process, the solids are separated from the liquid.
  • In the above give experiment, when the student added milk , white of egg  and common salt, they all dissolved in the water (solvent). When sand was added to water, sand didn't get dissolved in the water.
  • When the student tried to filter, the sand (solid residue) remained on the filter paper.
