When quick lime is added to water, it causes slaking of lime, i.e. formation of slaked lime.
CaO+ H_{2} O = Ca (OH)_{2}

CaO + H2O -------------->Ca(OH)2

When quicklime is added to water it forms slakedlime. It is also called limewater .

The student will notice that slakedlime gets precitated at the bottom of the beaker .

The reation will be exothermic and it is also a combination reaction .

hope this helps you and please mark as brainliest
