The balloon has gas molecules in it. According to chemistry when temperature rises the kinetic energy between molecules rises and they collide. This finally leads to larger distance between the molecules and volume of gas increases.Due to this size of balloon is larger .After cooling the size of balloon is smaller because the molecules of gas are contracted( they become closer to each other) and the volume of gas decreases.
