With the help of sodium chloride we can find that which is acetic acid and which is ethyl alcohol ,in following ways :

When we add sodium chloride to acetic acid it reacts with sodium chloride and would a brisk effervescence and release CO2 in the air , if the gas released in the reaction is passed through lime water we can see that it is CO2 , where ethyl alcohol do not react with the sodium chloride.
