Given:

A student conducts an activity using a concave mirror with focal length of 10 cm. He has placed the object 15 cm from the mirror.

To find:

Position of the image.

Calculation:

Applying Mirror Formula with appropriate sign convention:

 \therefore \:  \dfrac{1}{f}  =  \dfrac{1}{v}  +  \dfrac{1}{ u }

 =  >  \:  \dfrac{1}{( - 10)}  =  \dfrac{1}{v}  +  \dfrac{1}{( - 15)}

 =  >  \:   - \dfrac{1}{10}  =  \dfrac{1}{v}   -  \dfrac{1}{15}

 =  >  \:    \dfrac{1}{v}    = \dfrac{1}{15}  -  \dfrac{1}{10}

 =  >  \:    \dfrac{1}{v}    = \dfrac{2 -3 }{30}

 =  >  \:    \dfrac{1}{v}    = \dfrac{ - 1}{30}

 =  >  \: v =  - 30 \: cm

So, real image will be formed 30 cm in front of the mirror.

  • Image will be real.

  • Image will be inverted.

  • Image will be magnified.
