To test for hydrogen gas evolved, insert a lighted splint into the test tube. The lighted splint should extinguish with a characteristic "pop" sound. Note that if there is insufficient hydrogen gas, the flame may not be completely extinguished.

The gas was hydrogen.

So,to detect this pass the gas into the soap solution through a bend tube.

The gas was hydrogen.

So,to detect this pass the gas into the soap solution through a bend tube.

Then gas filled bubbles starts to rise, then take one burning candle near that bubble. If that bubble blasts with pop sound then that is hydrogen.
