let the total marks be x,

given ,

he secured =235

marks left to get passed =29

student needed 35% to pass so 35% of total marks would be 235+29 =264

so 35% of x is 264 then,

264 = x * 35/100

264= 0.35x

x= 754

hence 754 are the total marks.
