We know that the human males are heterozygous, i.e they have two types of chromosomes - X and Y.

While females are homozygous, i.e they have only X chromosome.

If X chromosome of the mother is fertilised by X chromosome of the father, the baby will be girl and if X chromosome of the mother is fertilised by Y chromosome of the father the baby will be boy.

So, we can say that the gender of the baby depends on which chromosome the father is donating.

Hence, the sex determination in humans is mainly made by the father
