A student is learning about the laws of thermodynamics and states, “When the brakes of a moving truck are applied, the kinetic energy of the truck decreases and even drops to no kinetic energy when the truck stops.”

The student thinks that his observation about the truck contradicts the first law of thermodynamics. Does the decrease in the truck’s kinetic energy contradict the first law of thermodynamics?

when car is stopped its kinetic energy is changed into heat energy so it obeys 1st law of thermodynamics
