The interference would be - rectangular interlocking cells, dark nucleus, large vacuoles, small granules.

EXPLANATION:

As the layers of onion has carbohydrates of which some are stored as 'starch'. The concentrated salt solution added to the onion pieces tends to engage to starch and stains the granules making them clearly visible.

The student won’t see any chloroplast as they are present in the leafy part of the onion. He will observe that the plant cell have a regular shape unlike the animal cells.

Through this observation the student will learn about the different cell structure of plants and animals.
