Answer:

this error can be removed by taking the measurement from 2cm and to now see where it ends .

it's actual measure is 2cm to 7cm = 7cm- 2cm = 5cm( ans)

Answer:

The error is removed by changing the initial point value of the ruler.

Explanation:

  • The length is equal to the size of the object from one end to the other.
  • Meter, centimeters, millimeters, and kilometers are the units of measuring length.
  • Screw gauge, vernier caliper, and rulers are used generally to measure length.

We can calculate length using a ruler correctly by:

Total Length = Vf-Vi

where, Vf is the endpoint mark value.

Vi is the initial point mark value.

Step 1:

Here, the student is using a broken ruler so, the initial point mark value is not equal to zero. So, there is an error in the length recorded.

Step 2:

We will make the adjustment that the initial point mark value is now  1.2 not zero. So, Vi=1.2 .

As we know that  Vf=7.

So, the correct length is =7-1.2  cm

                                        =5.8  cm

Hence, the correct adjustment is by changing the initial point value of the ruler.
