A student notes down the observation in the two spring balances and the measuring cylinder.{when the solid is deeped in water present in cylinder and its mass becomes 40 g)How much will be the volume of the solid ? Mass of the solid 60 g then what will be the density of the material of the solid ?

• Mass of the solid in air =60g

• Mass of the solid when dipped in water=40g

• Original volume =60x

• Apparent volume=40x

• Let the density of the material =x g/cm3

• According to the formula=

Volume of liquid displaced= original volume – apparent volume = 60x-40x=20x

Density= Mass/volume = 60/20= 3gm/cm3
