It is called refraction of light.

REFRACTION:-

The phenomenon of changing the path of light as it goes from one transparent medium to another is called refraction.

Laws of refraction:-

Two laws of refraction are given as below:

i)The incident ray ,reflected ray and the normal to the reflecting surface at the point of incident lie in the same plane.

ii)The ratio of the sign of angle

of the incident to the sign of angle of reflection is constant for the two given media. This constant is denoted by u and is called the relative refractive index.

1u2 = ( sin i / sin r ).
