A student pay of $23 an hour at a new job is $6 more than twice the amount of the student earn per hour at an internship. Write and solve an equation to find the hourly pay of the internship.

Let the student is paid $x for an hour in the internship.  

Then,  

23 = 6+2x

2x = 23-6 = 17

x = 8.5

So the hourly pay of the internship would be $8.5
