A student puts a drop of reaction mixture of a saponification reaction first on a blue litmus paper and then on a red litmus paper. He may observe that : (a) There is no change in the blue litmus paper and the red litmus paper turns white. (b) There is no change in the red litmus paper and the blue litmus paper turns red. (c) There is no change in the blue litmus paper and the red litmus paper turns blue. (d) No change in colour is observed in both the litmus papers.

I think answer is (c) because soaps are basic in nature

Saponification reaction mixture is basic in nature. Formation of soap that is saponification involves base (usually sodium hydroxide, NaOH) hydrolysis of triglycerides, which are esters of fatty acids, to form the sodium salt of a carboxylate. Hence reaction mixture is basic.
So, the student will observe that there is no change in the blue litmus paper but red litmus will turn blue. Hence option c is correct.
