Let,
the total number of students in the class be x

The average marks increased by ½ 
due to an increase of
83 - 63 = 20 marks.

total increase in the marks
= ½ * x = x/2

Hence it can also be written as

X/2 =20
X= 20x2
=40

Therefore tge total number of students present in class is 40 members......
