The student's statement about the area is incorrect because we can find the area of the shaded region from the given measurements.
- In attached file we can see there are two figures:
- one given in the question and other is the modified for finding the answer.
- From second figure we say,
The area of shaded region= Area if rectangle ABCD-(Area of rectangle P+Area of rectangle Q+Area of rectangle R) ...(I)
- we know that area of rectangle is given by legnth x breadth
- From (I), The area of shaded region
= 30x60 - [(10x10)+(10x15)+(10x15)]
=1800 - (100+150+150)
=1800 - 400
=1400 unit square.
So Area of reactagle is 1400 unit square.
Hence,the student’s statement about area is incorrect.
