First of let the person concerned is having rupees x at the beginning.

Then given that he spent 1/2 of x on clothing

2/3 of the remaining on food, remaining is 1/2 becoz 1/2 is spent on clothing then 2/3 of1/2 is 1/3

1/2 +1/3=5/6 is spent total ,remaining is 1/6 and given is 100 rupee remaining

So 1/6=100 then 1=600

So the person had 600 rupee at the beginning
