The correct answer is-

Initially when the student spilled ammonia bottle, its gas particles diffused  with the air particles that were present in the room.

Rate of diffusion of gases is very high. Therefore, in the starting the entire room got filled with ammonia, which has a pungent smell.

When students opened the doors and windows and switched on the exhaust fan, the air particles present in the room moved outside through diffusion. At the same time, air present outside the room entered inside.

Due to this, ammonia gas concentration in the room was declined, giving relief to the students.
