a student spilled a bottle of ammonia in the corner of the laboratory. Soon the whole laboratory was filled with pungent irritating smell. the students immidiately openened the windows and doors and switched on the exhausts fans. After some time, the students got relief. Explain what did acctually happned ?????

this was because if we smell ammonia we will realise an irritation in our eyes and nose... so when the bottle spilled ammonia gets converted into vapours as it undergoes sublimation.. now when the children open the windows they get relief coz of diffusion ammonium gas particles mixed with that of atmospheric air and then the whole air was balanced as diffusion occurs from high concentration to low concentration..

Ammonia is not so so smelly itself. When ammonia is dissolved in water, it also forms mild vapours with water, which actually do makes us feel about bad breath. The vapours give ammonia a pungent smells and as it was already diluted, the laboratory suffocated.
