A student took 2-3 g of a substance X in a glass beaker and poured water over it slowly. He observed bubbles along with hissing noise. The beaker becomes quite hot this solution is used for white washing were it forms a compound Y. Identify X and Y and what type of reaction is it and write the reactions?

X=CaO and Y=Ca(OH)2
