When iron (Fe) is added is copper sulphate (CuSo4) copper gets displaced and iron sulphate (FeSO4) gets formed.
The iron nail gets a deposit of brown colour Copper.
These changes are chemical in nature.
Fe + CuSO4 ------> FeSO4 + Cu
