A student took lime solution and passed a gas "A" through it. the solution became turgid. This solution was divided into 2 parts. in 1st part more "A" was passed. In the 2nd part concentric H2SO4 was added. A white PPT was formed in the 2nd part
1)mention the gas "A".
2) write chemical equation of the process in which gas "A" was evolved.
3) what happened when more of gas "A" was passed through the turgid solution.
Give chemical equation.

The experiment is famous lime water experiment.

The gas 'A' is carbon di oxide.

The chemical reaction where carbon di oxide is evolved is given -

Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2)+ CO2 ---> Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) + H2O.

When more of CO2 is passed through calcium carbonate, then Calcium Hydrogen Carbonate (Ca(HCO3)2) is formed.

The equation for the product formation is -

Ca(CO3) + H2O + CO2 ---> (Ca(HCO3)2).

Formation of this product turns milky product into transparent or colourless solution.
