A student was asked to multiply a number by 3/2. Instead he divided the number by 3/2 and obtained a number smaller by 3/2; the number is:

A) 2/3
B) 3/5

Let the no. be X

so , student did - X x 2/3 = 2x/3

2x/3 = X - 3/2 ( as told that no. is smaller by 3/2)

LCM will be 2 in the case of x-2/3 So , 2x-3/2

LCM of 2 and 3 = 6

So , 2x = 2x-3/6

Transportation - 2x - 2x =3 /6

So, X=3 and 3/6 will give us 1/2
