When iron nail is dipped in copper sulphate solution then iron being more reactive will replace copper from copper sulphate solution.

The chemical reaction equation will be as follows.

      CuSO_{4}(aq) + Fe(s) \rightarrow FeSO_{4}(aq) + Cu(s)

Thus, there will be formation of iron sulphate solution and copper.

This reaction is known as displacement reaction. Initial color of the solution was blue and when iron displaces copper then final color of solution is light green.
