a) Colour of mixture => Greyish black

b) Magnetic effect on mixture => Nothing

c) No reaction with carbon disulphide.

d) Ferrous sulphate is formed with release of hydrogen sulphide.

e) Gas obtained => Hydrogen sulphide
Properties of H2S => colourless gas with rotten eggs smell.

● Reactions -
Iron fillings react with sulphur to form iron sulphide.
Fe + S ---> FeS

Iron sulphide reacts with sulphuric acid & releases hydrogen sulphide gas.
FeS + H2SO4 ---> FeSO4 + H2S
