A study found that children with light-coloured eyes are likely to have parents with light-coloured eyes. On this basis, can we say anything about whether the light eye colour trait is dominant or recessive? Why or why not?

Since both the parents and the children all have light-coloured eyes.

There can be two possibilities:

  1. Light coloured eyes is a recessive character. Both the parents with the light coloured eyes are homozygous recessive.
  2. Light eye colour is dominant & parents are homozygous dominant.
