Given : A study shows that the number of Red Blood Cells double every 4 minutes.

At, 5:00 pm, number of RBC's were 1.32 x 10¹²

If N represents the number of RBC's “p' hours (p is an integer) after 5:00 pm,

To Find: according to the study, which equation can be used to calculate N

Solution:

At, 5:00 pm, number of RBC's were 1.32 x 10¹²

Red Blood Cells double every 4 minutes.

in 4 minutes become = 1.32 x 10¹² * 2

in 8 minutes becomes = 1.32 * 10¹² * 2 * 2 = 1.32 * 10¹² * 2²

in 1  hrs = 60 minutes = 4 * 15 mins =   1.32 * 10¹² * 2¹⁵

Hence Every 1 hour  Red Blood Cells 2¹⁵  times

After 1 hr = 1.32 * 10¹² * 2¹⁵

After 2 hr = 1.32 * 10¹² * (2¹⁵)²

After p hr = 1.32 * 10^{12} * (2^{15})^p= 1.32 * 10^{12} * (2^{15p})

Hence  N= 1.32 * 10^{12} * (2^{15p})   can be used to calculate N
