Since submarines dive quickly, and need to be able
to respond rapidly to sudden changes in conditions,
it is more reasonable to use feet per minute. If we work
in feet per hour at this speed we would need to convert
the data back to feet per minute in order to ensure we
don't dive too deep
Where Dn is depth, Dn-1 is previous depth,
and m is number of minutes diving.
They should be the same, and they are.
I suppose a submarine dives for a few minutes straight, not hours. If that is so, then ft/min is more practical than ft/hr.
