Given:-

Submarine's position is -325 feet

Descending position = -98 feet

So, new position = -325 - (-98) {descends means, it goes down}

{ Take a number line or the y axis for example, ascend means towards up and descends means it goes down }

so, on solving this, -325 + 98 => -227

Therefore its new position is -227 feet.
