A submarine sends out a pulse of ultrasound to check how close it is to the sea bed. The reflected waves are detected 0.2 seconds later. Work out the distance from the submarine to the sea bed. The speed of ultrasound in water is 1500m/s.

Speed od ultrasound :-1500 m/s

Time taken :-0.2 seconso

so, total diatance :- speed x time

:-(1500 x 0.2) m

300 metres

since water hos gone inside and then

reflected. therefore, distance of sea bed

from the ship =(300/2) metres

= 150 metres

HENCE, DISTANCE OF SEA BED FROM

THE SHIP IS 150 METRES.
