A substance of mass 0.4kg having a density 2700kg/m3 occupies an area 0.02m2. Determine the thickness of the substance.

Given,

Mass of the substance = 0.4 kg

Density of the substance = 2700kg/m³

Area of the substance = 0.02 m²

For, calculating the thickness of the substance,we have to first calculate the volume of that substance.

According,to the mathematical formula :

Volume = Mass/Density

So,the volume of this substance = 0.4/2700 = 0.000148 m³ (approx)

Now,the thickness of the substance will be

= Volume/Area

= 0.000148/0.02

= 0.0074 m (approx)

Hence,the approximate thickness of that substance is 0.0074 metre.
