An antibody is a type of proteinaceous substance produced by the body's immune system when it detects harmful substances called antigens. Examples of antigens include microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses) and chemicals.
When an antigen enters the body, the immune system produces antibodies against it. Antibodies are always Y-shaped. It is like a battle with the army (antibody) fighting off the invader (antigen).
